A message from our Master Groomer, Dawn Gallo: |
Hello, my name is Dawn Gallo! I am the groomer here at the Land of Pawz. I would like to take this time to tell you a little about myself and my experience as a groomer of your pets. I grew up in Brockton, MA. I have been breeding, training, grooming and showing Newfoundland’s and Akitas from the age of 10. Shortly after, I started handling and grooming my own clients show dogs as well. My focus at the time was on the large working and sporting breeds of dogs. I quickly started working with toy dogs as well. During High School and while showing, breeding and training, I needed to know more. So I did a work study program with my personal vet in Brockton, The North Main Street Clinic. I worked in all areas as a Vet Tech. After the program, I continued working as a Vet Tech with a few other area vets. Over my now 33 years of working in all areas of dogs, I have been successful enough to have made many champions for my clients and myself, as well as obedience titled champions. I am proud of every one of them. I feel it is VERY important for all of our pets to be groomed on a regular basis. Not just so they smell nice. When they are shedding, matted and not clean, they are uncomfortable, hot they itch more and the matting can be painful. There can be hidden issues, such as fleas, ticks, skin problems, cuts, scrapes, and even lumps that could go unnoticed for some time. As was the case with one dog I groomed, at his next visit, 6 weeks later, he has a large lump under his throat, bigger than a golf ball. Luckily, it was not cancer or a tumor but a very large abscess. The groomer puts their hands all over every part of your pet, and when groomed on a regular basis, I can notice any changes or problems. We tend to only see our vets on an annual basis, so if there were to be something wrong; it could be noticed sooner not later. Coated breeds tend to be groomed less often and with the thick coat, it can hide a lot of things. The breeds that tend to get haircuts more often will have potential problems noticed sooner. Grooming your pet on a regular basis is an added protection for the health of your pet. MY goal is to produce the very best quality of grooming for you and your pet that I possibly can. I treat each and every pet with love, and pride myself with safety and kindness. I treat each pet as my own. I feel that I offer you and your pets the very best qualities you can find in a groomer. I have varied experiences that ensure their safety as well as giving them love. My promise is, to do the VERY BEST that I can to have your dog/cat look the way you would like them too. At the same time ensuring that it is the very best for your pet. I like to call them MY walking works of arts. I look forward to meeting you and your pets! Sincerely, |
